Art Portfolio Night
The fine arts continue to play a role in Lin's educational program and overall philosophy of providing our students with a well-rounded education.

Ms. Baker, art teacher, and Mrs. Porter, general music teacher do an excellent job relating the fine arts to real life experiences for the students. Mrs. Scarr, band director, and Mrs. Valkova, strings director engage the students in such a way that instills inspiration and confidence in the students class after class.

Tonight, the fine arts tradition at Lin marches on, as we host the Ninth Annual Moveable Feast for the Eyes. The school has been transformed into an art gallery. The art work on display is fit for a professional art studio.

I want to take a moment to thank Ms. Baker, Michael Lyman, and his wife Cathy Amaroso for all of their hard work in getting the school ready for tonight!

Most of all, that you students. Your work and persistence is an inspiration!

See you tonight!

Bullying Taken Seriously at Lin
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me". Many of us remember saying this to our peers while playing in the neighborhood or playing on the school playground. I think many of us also remember that names did hurt.

Teasing, name calling, and taunting are just a few examples of bullying. Bullying can also be done via email! At Lin, our counselor, Mrs. Stroman conducts classroom guidance sessions specifically designed to define bullying for the students. These sessions also provide the students with strategies to implement if they feel that they are being bullied. The most important strategy Mrs. Stroman communicates to the students is that it is okay to tell an adult at school about being bullied or to report bullying. Providing a risk-free environment to foster this proactive student to adult communication is essential in dealing with bullying in the beginning stages.

The district, Lin administration, and Lin staff take bullying seriously. Parents, please contact Mrs. Stroman at bchristian@atlantapublicschools.us or me bdmitchell@atlantapublicschools.us to find out more information about Lin's proactive approach to bullying.

Thanks,

Dr. Mitchell

CRCT

The Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) will be administered to all first through fifth grade students from April 21-27.

Our students are ready to exceed expectations on the CRCT! The CRCT tests how well our teachers have taught the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). Please visit https://www.georgiastandards.org/Pages/default.aspx for more information on the GPS. Please give me a call if you have any questions about the CRCT or the GPS.

Thanks for all you do!
