Outward Bound Visit
This year marks the third consecutive year that our fifth grade teachers and fourth grade students have worked with Outward Bound. The Outward Bound experience is grounded in the concept of teamwork. The fifth grade teachers work with their prospective students, as together, they engage in challenging activities that require teamwork, effective communication, and open mindedness.

The Lin Team values teamwork and professionalism. Before we engage in any type of curriculum mapping or professional development about teaching best practices, the Team discusses the importance of respect and professionalism in the workplace.

I often stress to the Lin Team that without the foundational core values and beliefs in place such as respect, trust, professionalism, and safety, there is no chance of having something special here at Lin. However, with these core values and beliefs in place and practiced daily by teachers and students, then the chance of having something special is imminent.

Promethean Boards
Lin received five Promethean Boards (P-Boards) yesterday afternoon! The P-Boards were placed in one fifth grade math classroom, two fourth grade math classrooms, and two third grade classrooms.

Our goal of having a P-Board in each fourth and fifth grade math and science class has been attained!

Our next goal of having all third classrooms equipped with P-Boards is on the horizon. We only have two more third grade classes to go!

Building a Positive School Culture
All organizations have a culture or a certain way things get done. At Lin, our school culture began forming when the school opened over 70 years ago! Over the years, several staples of our school culture have remained constant. For example, Lin is known for its high student achievement, strong parental/community involvement, and quality teachers.

Providing time for teachers to collaborate is essential to building a positive school culture. At Lin, teachers share resources and ideas that promote student achievement. The Lin teachers also engage in professional development grounded in teaching best practices. Professional development and life long learning are critical components of building a positive school culture.

At Lin, we listen to feedback, ideas, and suggestions on how to improve from our community. Parental input is yet another essential component for a positive school culture. The parent feedback survey is now posted on our main web page under the Headlines section.

We recently had Art Portfolio Night and over the next three weeks, we will showcase events that have a special place in Lin's culture. Some of these events are, Opening Ceremonies, Olympic Day,  and the Fifth Grade Closing Ceremony. This year, marks the second year we participated in the Penny Harvest. The Penny Harvest has quickly become part of what we do around here, too. The concepts of caring, collaboration, and higher-level thinking transcend grade levels. Thanks for helping Lin continue to add on to an already positive school culture.
