Southeast Atlanta is burgeoning - both economically with new developments and academically with Maynard Holbrook Jackson High School. The campus consists of three small learning communities: Engineering Early College, Fine Arts & Media Communications, and Information Technology. Named one of the best high schools in the nation by Business Week and U.S. News & World Report, Jackson educates students who go on to win robotics competitions, study abroad, and earn competitive college scholarships. The College Board recognized Jackson as a 2011 Advanced Placement Challenge School. Supporting Jackson are 20 community partnerships responsible for bringing medical students, entrepreneurs, theater and recording artists, and other professionals into the school regularly. With 18 years of service, the GE Foundation is one of Jackson's oldest partners. In 2011, Jackson became a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Program and began plans for its renovation into a state of the art facility.
