Guidelines:

As a staff writer on the EC newspaper, you are representing your school and stand as a leader in the promotion of communication and literacy within the community.

Staff members will be assigned positions that will involve researching, writing, reporting, editing, designing, and ultimately conveying meaningful and/or entertaining information to the masses through print and photojournalistic media.

Faculty sponsor will educate staff on techniques of proper journalism.

Staff is expected to meet ALL deadlines for story assignments, photo assignments, and editing completion in preparation for a fast-paced and competitive career in the journalism field.

Staff will meet to plan story assignments and study journalism during Advisory block twice a month.  Stories will be done both during this time and outside of class.

 

 

Objectives:

To produce an Early College newspaper that is comprised of authentic articles written and researched by Early College students that report on news and themes relevant to the school, community, state, nation and world.

To educate members on proper styles of writing for various types of print and broadcast media and to study current trends in journalistic careers.

To hone members’ writing, research and grammatical skills to be applied in the classes and prepare them for superior writing performance on scholarship and college essays.

To instill an awareness of community in members as well as connect them to issues beyond the walls of the school and emphasize a global connection to national and world events.
