Maynard H. Jackson High School College Bound & Career Center:
A College Bound Culture
"The objective of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives."~~~Robert Maynard Hutchins
"The future belongs to those who prepare for it."~~~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Mission Statement
To provide an up-to-date comprehensive resource center for students from 9th through 12th grade for the purpose of exposure to and selection of post high school choices in an atmosphere of friendly encouragement and guidance.
We live in a college-bound culture, and rightfully so. College is a gateway to economic opportunity and social mobility. Research demonstrates that college graduates have higher employment rates, higher job status, and earn high wages. The Center's purpose is to increase the college entrance rate of students in our school community. We have developed a comprehensive approach, with a focus on incoming freshmen that will be extremely effective in preparing our students, in some cases first generation college-bound seniors, for college and instilling an interest to go beyond high school and reach their full potential.
The College Bound Resource Center is available for all Jackson High School students. Activities included in the program are designed to motivate all students to achieve at higher levels and to adhere to new standards for academic performance and student behavior. The College Bound Program also assists students in identifying scholarships to fund post-secondary educational expenses. The College Bound Program Manager assists students with personalized scholarship matching, side-by-side college comparison, as well as financial aid and student loan tips.
