Dear Sylvan Community and Visitors:

It is truly hard to believe that the the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year is completed.  Here at Sylvan, we have been so busy working each and every day towards our pursuit of academic excellence that the time has simply seemed to fly.

We are proud of the work that our students and teachers are accomplishing together this year.  We are extremely thankful for the support of our families as we work together to create a collaborative school community that works hand-in-hand in support of the positive development of each child that enters the doors of Sylvan Hills Middle School.

Some highlights of which we are especially proud from this first semester include:

Ø  Effective home/school partnerships through a strategic approach to communication and a commitment to customer service;

Ø  Large turnouts at our PTSA evenings where parents/guardians and guests have had the opportunity to learn more about the instructional program and enjoy fellowship;

Ø  Teachers using student data consistently and frequently to tailor their instruction for students;

Ø  A variety of class offerings from Honors classes, to additional Connections classes, to opportunities for remediation;

Ø  A commitment to celebrating successes and our students through fun events like the monthly Birthday Bash, dances, and pep rallies;

Ø  A successful and meaningful Advisory Program;

Ø  The participation of 100% of students in a school sponsored club.

As you can see, we continue to work tirelessly to create a top-notch middle school program.  As we move into 2013, we hope that you will visit the school to attend our monthly Principal Roundtables that will begin in January, to volunteer, or to meet with a teacher.  Thank you for visiting our website, and we look forward to greeting you in the school.
