In 1878, William J. Scott donated the property on which Scott Elementary is now housed to Atlanta Public Schools.  He was a Methodist minister who ministered to Georgians in many different areas of the state.  He died on May 2, 1899.  He made the donation of land because of his strong desire to advocate for children's education.  Since that donation, William J. Scott has continued to advocate the rights of all the students that enroll in this outstanding establishment.

WE BELIEVE:

That all students should be given the opportunity to learn in a positive environment.

That students should be given the opportunity to recognize the need to set high goals for academic, social, and physical development.

That all students are capable of learning.

That all students should experience success.

That it is necessary to have an alliance among school personnel, parents, and the community for our program to be successful.
