Hutchinson is special because… cultural diversity is valued and seen as a unique gift that equips each student to actively participate in a global society. Hutchinson experiences high parent and partner-in-education support through its community partners. Parents and partners-in education embrace the school’s vision and provide learning opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential as literate, responsible citizens.
Hutchinson began year round education on July 19, 2004. It reorganized the school year to provide continuous learning by breaking-up the long summer vacation into shorter, more frequent vacations throughout the school year. Year round school students experience 180 days of teaching and learning just as the students who are assigned a traditional school calendar. The pre-kindergarten to fifth grade culturally and linguistically diverse student population is representative of at least six cultures all of which are interwoven into a student-centered, academically focused, global school setting. High expectations for student success are evident in teacher-student dialogue, the differentiation of class assignments, and quality work activities that are performed and/or proudly displayed. High student support is offered through our ESOL program, during school and after-school tutorials, and student/family support strategies. |
