Cleveland Avenue Elementary School consists of students in pre-kindergarten through grade five. The faculty, staff and student-body are reflective of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities.

Within the community lies a Kmart, grocery store, Boys and Girls Club, public library, fire station, and daycare centers that provide before and after school supervision for students. The Cleveland Avenue community supports the school’s goals and objectives. Attendance at Academic Nights, Local School Council, and PTA meetings indicate the community has high expectations for student achievement and support for school programs.

Cleveland Avenue recruits and maintains a highly qualified staff of certified teachers and paraprofessionals. The leadership team consists of: the principal, assistant principal, Reading facilitator, EIP Coordinator, and Math coordinator. The certified support staff includes: the media specialist, school counselor, school psychologist, speech pathologist, In-school Team chairperson, occupational therapist, physical therapist, social worker and instructional technology specialist. Additional classified staff members include the school secretary and an attendance aide. The school also offers the services of the Hands-on Atlanta staff and a coordinator for the Communities in Schools Program.

Cleveland Avenue Elementary School is a Project GRAD school where students participate in research-based initiatives for instruction. Consistency Management and Cooperative Discipline (CMCD) is the model used to manage student behavior. Both science and social studies standards are taught utilizing the concept-based unit approach.

Students attending Cleveland Avenue Elementary School receive culturally enriching experiences through participation in field trip excursions, physical education, Spanish, visual arts, band, strings and music programs. Students needing additional academic assistance participate in Hands-on Atlanta after-school program and Wednesday tutorials. Students who are more independent in their learning receive Accelerated Reader, math, science and technology-related problem-solving activities.

Cleveland Avenue Elementary School has been a uniform school for over eleven years. All students are expected to wear the school uniform daily, which consists of white tops and navy bottoms. Wearing the school uniform shows cooperation between home and school, team spirit, and willingness on the part of parents and students to follow the leadership of the school in teaching students to conform to standards of decorum and conduct. It is our belief that this level of cooperation allows the school to concentrate more of its efforts on academic achievement.
