Standards for Teacher Pages

What Kind of Teacher Pages?

There are several suggested types of pages that teachers should have at a bare minimum.  Teachers should have the following pages:
  • class welcome page (Flex page)
  • teacher bio (Flex page)
  • homework page (File Library)
  • helpful links or parent resource page (Link Library)
  • field trip page (Maps & Directions page)
  • calendar (There can be only one calendar per section within SchoolWires, therefore, if teachers have been assigned an entire section to themselves they will access to a calendar for their specific and individual use.  If an entire grade level or content are is sharing a section, they must also share one calendar between the entire group of teachers.)

21st Century best practices for publishing personal information on the web are to be observed and the following rules apply to teacher pages:
  • Never post or provide your personal home address
  • Avoid listing the names of children or family members
  • Do not post or provide a schedule of your personal activities or specific locations that you frequent
  • Never post a Social Security number or any other personal identification number
Teacher Bios
Professionalism and best practices for sharing personal information should be observed at all times.  To this end, it is important to limit the amount of personal, or non-instructional related commentary on teacher bio pages.  A great rule of thumb to follow is to never provide more information about yourself than you would require a young child to provide about themselves for posting online.  By observing this, teacher bio pages can remain instructionally focused, and developed in sound reason with the professionalism of the teaching practice in mind.

(Please limit personal information placed on this page. This information will be posted for public use. APS or the Learning Technologies Department will not be responsible for any information compromised when placed on the web page.
